Join us for a breakfast event with MP Jake Sawatzky as he gives his inaugural address to the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce membership. Taking place on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Inn at the Quay in New Westminster, the event will begin at 8:30 AM. A hearty Canadian Breakfast will be served. 

Jake will share his story and his vision for mental health advocacy, youth empowerment, and securing federal support for local priorities in our community. A Q&A and networking will follow, providing you with a chance to engage directly with MP Sawatzky and other members of the business community.

About the Speaker:

Jake Sawatzky is a newly elected Member of Parliament and a graduate in neuroscience from UBC who was pursuing a Master’s in counselling psychology before his election to federal office. He brings a deep passion for mental health advocacy, youth empowerment, and community building to his work in Parliament. Inspired by a belief that this is a critical moment for Canada—one that demands bold leadership and fresh ideas—Jake offers a firsthand understanding of challenges facing young people today, such as housing and affordability. 

In Ottawa, he serves on the Standing Committee on Finance and as an Associate Member of the Standing Committee on Health. He’s also active in the Health, Technology, and Policy Caucuses, and co-founded the Youth Caucus to strengthen young people’s voice in national decision-making. Before his election, Jake built a strong track record as a volunteer and event organizer—leading over 13 concert fundraisers (including a series supporting BC flood recovery in 2021) and serving as President of Drop The Puck for Mental Health, an annual charitable hockey event that raises over $180,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
