This July, Waves Wednesday comes together in the spirit of Canada Day to celebrate and reflect on the strength, resilience, and future of local businesses in Canada.

As we gather as a community, we’ll explore what support truly looks like for today’s local business owners: from the challenges they’re navigating, to the opportunities that could help them thrive. The conversation will open space for meaningful reflection on what resources are still missing, and what new tools, partnerships, or policies could make a real difference.

We’ll also look ahead - what role can the City and other governing bodies play in strengthening the local business ecosystem? What ideas or best practices from other municipalities could be brought into New Westminster? And importantly, what positive trends are already shaping the future of local Canadian businesses?
