The New Westminster Chamber of Commerce is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated youth candidate to join our team as a Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator through the Canada Summer Jobs Program 2026.
The successful candidate will play an active role in promoting Chamber initiatives, supporting local businesses, engaging with members, and helping strengthen the Chamber’s presence both online and in the community.
Position Details
Position: Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator (2 positions available)
Employment Type: Full-time temporary (Canada Summer Jobs)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: $20/hour
Duration: 8 weeks
Start Date: June 15, 2026
End Date: By August 29, 2026
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (remote + in-office/community events)
Candidates must be available to work for a minimum of 8 consecutive weeks within the employment period.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
- Create engaging content for Chamber newsletters, social media platforms, promotional materials, and digital communications
- Assist with developing and implementing marketing plans to promote Chamber events, initiatives, programs, and membership opportunities
- Support photography, graphic design, storytelling, and content creation for digital campaigns
- Help monitor and maintain Chamber social media accounts and engagement
- Assist with communications reporting and analytics, including tracking engagement rates, click-through rates (CTR), reach, and performance across promotional channels
- Assist with the Chamber website update project, including content updates, organization, and website improvements
Membership & Community Outreach
- Participate in member visits and outreach activities
- Support member engagement and relationship-building initiatives
- Assist with welcoming and connecting with Chamber members and community partners
- Help support membership campaigns, networking initiatives, and community engagement activities
Events & Administration
- Assist with planning, promoting, and coordinating Chamber events, workshops, and networking activities
- Provide administrative support as required, including data entry, scheduling, research, and document preparation
- Support office operations and special projects assigned by the Chamber team

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is:
- Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable communicating with business professionals, community members, and stakeholders
- Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
- Interested in communications, marketing, business development, events, and community engagement
- Experienced with Canva, graphic design, photography, website editing, content writing, or storytelling
- Skilled at creating engaging content for social media, newsletters, and promotional materials
- Creative, proactive, and eager to contribute new ideas and initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about supporting local businesses and strengthening community connections
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, youth applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
